Game of the Week #434
Merijn van Delft: "The highly impressive Norway Chess tournament has come to an end. World Champion Magnus Carlsen showed who is still the boss, but things were rather close, as Firouzja followed closely. The tournament was decided by a dramatic blunder in a king and pawn endgame. We will study Firouzja's crystal clear technical performance in the final round against Duda."

The aim of this DVD is to demonstrate the typical tactical themes of the Sicilian Najdorf and to improve your understanding of them, as well as to practice them with the interactive examples.

There are few opening systems which have been undergoing such a fast and furious renaissance as the 6.Bg5 Variation of the Najdorf System. Inspired by Radjabov’s victories over Anand and Karjakin in 2006, a great number of games have been played since then, meaning that the theory has developed enormously. But even before then it stretched to such distant horizons that makes it all the more important to have someone who can explain the ideas which underlie the variations. That is exactly what Alexei Shirov does on his DVD.
