About the tournament

The FIDE Online Steinitz Memorial features two 10-player double round-robins taking place on chess24 from May 15-17 to celebrate the 1st World Chess Champion Wilhelm Steinitz (1836-1900). The total prize fund is €30,000, with Women's World Blitz Champion Kateryna Lagno top seed in the women's section. The time control is 3 minutes per player for all moves, with a 2-second increment from move 1. No draw offers are allowed before move 30. A tie for 1st will be decided by an Armageddon game, where White has 5 minutes to Black's 4 but a draw counts as a win for Black.

The women's tournament starts at 15:00 CEST (13.00 UTC, 09:00 EDT)

I thought these blitz tourneys would be less interesting, but the fact that in a round all the games are NOT played at once is a great idea. This allows you to follow the games and the commentators to comment on them in real time as opposed to revisiting them after the fact.
