This weekend: European Women’s Rapid and Blitz Championship

1/9/2024 – For organisational reasons, the 2023 edition of the European Women’s Rapid and Blitz Championship will be held in 2024: the blitz tournament will take place on Friday (12 January), while the rapid tournament will be held on Saturday and Sunday (13 and 14 January). European Women’s Rapid & Blitz Championship

In Monaco, the venue for these European Championships, temperatures are expected to be around 10 degrees next weekend — so for people who don’t like the cold weather, it will definitely be more pleasant than in Germany.

The blitz tournament

There will be 13 rounds of 3+2 games played according to the Swiss system. The match day is Friday, 12 January.

The rapid tournament

There will be 11 rounds of 15+10 games played according to the Swiss system. The match days are Saturday, 13 January and Sunday, 14 January.

Prize fund

A total of 22,000 euros will be distributed.

In a total of 6 chapters, we look at the following aspects: the right decision based on tactical factors, decisions in exchanges and moves, complex and psychological decisions in longer games and in defence.
