3/4/2025 – In mid-March, the Saint Louis Chess Club will present its first major tournament of 2025, the American Cup. The best male and female players in the USA will compete for $400,000 in a double elimination format from 15 to 24 March. But before that, six top players will battle it out in the Champions Showdown from 4-6 March.

2/2/2025 – Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu won the 2025 Tata Steel Masters after beating world champion Gukesh Dommaraju in a blitz tiebreaker. The two Indian stars entered the final round tied for first place and, notably, both lost their classical games on Sunday. Pragg then won the blitz tiebreaker by a 2-1 score after Gukesh misplayed a knight endgame in the third encounter.
