In round six of the British Championship, Michael Adams had to defend his lead against top seed Nikita Vitiugov. Playing Black in a Catalan, Adams steered the game toward simplification and secured a safe draw.

None of the key contenders managed to score a full point. Ameet Ghasi drew with Siva Mahadevan, Daniel Fernandez and Yichen Han also split the point, and the game between Maciej Czopor and Matthew Wadsworth likewise ended in a draw.

Meanwhile, several players on 3.5 points – including Shreyas Royal and Gawain Maroroa Jones – scored wins, expanding the group trailing Adams to ten players.
