Just log in to Account.Chessbase.com with your Playchess.com nickname and password

Get to know new sides of the ChessBase world! All web apps also run on mobile devices, e.g. on iPad or Android tablets. Just relax on the sofa and start your journey of discovery!

Online ChessBase Video library

The new online ChessBase video library is a huge web archive of all chess broadcasts shown on the playchess.com server during the last years. Here you will find highlights such as Daniel King's "Power Play" show, Karsten Müller's "Endgame Magic Show" or TV ChessBase. At the moment about 300 videos are online and the number is constantly growing!

We highly recommend "Move by move". Selected grandmaster games help you to learn winning techniques move by move! Try to answer the questions of Daniel King or Simon Williams and you will understand the strategies behind the moves of the masters!

And there is more: The video library also offers you access to ten videos from the "60 minute" series - for free! Well-known players and coaches explain opening concepts and inspire you with interesting ideas that help you to broaden your repertoire.

Openings Trainer

Memorizing opening lines is often a challenging part of building one's repertoire, but not anymore thanks to the new interactive Openings Trainer! Just enter the lines of your repertoire, and then you practice the variations - move by move. Don't worry: the server automatically saves your repertoire for later sessions.

But this is not all: when you enter your repertoire you have access to the Live Book, which gives you a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of all opening systems including statistical evaluations!

You will discover alternatives (and possible improvements) to your current repertoire. Have a look! Dare to be curious and enlarge your opening knowledge in an easy, playful manner.

My Cloud Games

MyGames-Cloud offers you fast and easy access with the web browser. Just log in at "MyGames" and you will see a list of your own games. You will, for example, find all games you played under your account on the Playchess.com server. You can also open any PGN file on your computer or tablet, and if you have ChessBase 13, the databases from the ChessBase cloud will automatically be offered to you! Show your chess friends your most beautiful games. You can analyze them together or you can let Fritz-online look for improvements.

Online Trainer

Practice makes perfect! 90% of all chess games are decided by tactics and calculation. Improve your tactical power with the Training app.

More than 50,000 training exercises are waiting for you - ranging from one-movers to more tricky combinations in which quiet moves are required! You can practice all motifs and tricks which might come up in your next game.

How good is your Training rating? Check it out and let the server calculate your current Tactics rating! Every position comes with an Elo rating and the general difficulty. After solving a problem you decide when to continue. For instance, you can replay the exercise to understand it better. Clicking "Next Position" loads another.

Live Database

The "Live Database" offers access to games ranging from the beginning of chess history to the most current grandmaster games. Enter moves on the board and find out which masters played this variation. Find out which lines are main lines and discover promising sidelines!

Always up-to-date: the Live Database is updated every week with current games. You do not need to do anything, neither editing the games nor entering updates. Every year more than 200,000 games are added to the Live Database and you might not even notice!

Everywhere and anytime: no matter where and when - you always have access to the
Live-Database (if you have an internet connection).

But that's not all: you do not only have access to the whole history of chess, you can also add "Let’s Check", the world's biggest analysis database. A fantastic plus - especially for opening questions. Because "Let’s Check" has deep analyses for more than 200 million positions ready for you!

The "Live Book" is the most comprehensive and the most up to date source for opening moves played and therefore ideal for looking up variations! And because the "Live Book" is live, it changes every second: every position analyzed with Let`s Check is added including its evaluation.

And what does all this cost? If you have a Playchess account, log on to the Playchess server with your username and your password and you have immediate access to all Web Apps – without additional costs! Playchess Premium Users have full access to the Web Apps, Playchess Classic Users can use the Apps but with some limitations (ChessBase Starter Account).

Here are the details: go to https://account.chessbase.com/en/matrix New customers pay only 4.99€/month (or 49.90€ p.a.) for the Premium Account. You can test the Starter Account for three months for free, after that it costs 3.49 €/month (or 34.90€ p.a.).

I had an initial problem with accessing the chessbase online account, especially the tactics trainer and opening drills, which I thought was a bug. But I removed a software which was managing my internet downloads, which prevented cloud communication, and chessbase now works fine !

Thanks for the chessbase team to help me figure this out. :) :)

If I have ChessBase, do I need to buy a playchess account?
honez honez 11/12/2015 09:12
I cannot see a way of using cloud engines to analyse the database games. It would be very disappointing if this is not possible

@noswonky - Send bugs to info@chessbase.com

@Patymaty - Email info@chessbase.com and see what options they can offer.

@jgvaughan - To enjoy the Premium features.

@Nicolas - Bugs will certainly be found and stamped out. That said, the Premium account is the same as the Playchess premium account. In other words, these are simply new and added perks to users who buy a standard Playchess Premium account.

@All - Tutorials on the new web apps as well as updated existing ones will be published very soon. You can use the Feedback link above to share any questions you would like to see answered in those guides. Don't send bugs, I have no control over them. Send those to info@chessbase.com

The following comes from the article above: "New customers pay only 4.99€/month (or 49.90€ p.a.) for the Premium Account. You can test the Starter Account for three months for free, after that it costs 3.49 €/month (or 34.90€ p.a.)."

Could someone explain to me why I would go ahead and sign up as a new customer vice testing the Starter Account for three months free? Signing up as a new customer costs more per year than for those who sign up for a free starter account. Is this a typo?

I liked the features, then I remember how full of bugs chessbase online products are, then I see the product and realize that this seems like another beta open to general public, full of bugs again, not buying this time.

Anyone else getting just an error message, when trying to become premium member?
Jarman Jarman 11/12/2015 12:51
This is a welcome addition and definitely the way to go.
@Amadan: what do you feel this offer is missing exactly in comparison to other companies?
AMADAN AMADAN 11/12/2015 11:39
Content is way behind other companies offering similar products. I will try the service for a month because I am a user of chessbase and if the 2 products will compliment each other.

Hopefully an app or the product can be built into the chessbase app in the near future.
