Queen and king vs king and far advanced h-pawn is a basic endgame. Beginners usually learn quickly that this endgame is a draw. The king of the weaker side hides in front of the h-pawn and the queen has trouble to avoid stalemate. However, Sabrina Chevannes claims that you can win with queen and king against king and h-pawn - sometimes at least.

Sabrina Chevannes was born in 1986 in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, England, and later lived in London. Currently she is also often in Los Angeles where her boyfriend lives. She learnt to play chess when she was eight years old and has won no less than ten British Championship titles in the course of her chess career. She ran the London Academy of Chess and Education and her refreshing way to teach children chess makes her a popular teacher. A few days ago she visited Hamburg to record a DVD in the ChessBase studio. For the ChessBase advent calendar she chose the following goodie.
