38... Ra2 also does the trick, but white can try 39.Nd7 after which 39... Rxc2 is not recommended...
39... Qxf5 40.Qe7 Nf2+ 41.Kg1 Rxc2 42.Qf6 Qxf6 43.Nxf6+ Kh8 44.Rxf2 Rxf2 45.Kxf2 Ra2+ 46.Kf3 gxf6 is -4 according to the computer, but I agree (as I would play on a few moves with white) mate is much better!
