As a chess player I grew up on different versions of ChessBase and Mega Database. I never really dabbled into the world of Fritz software. Although I knew that it was mainly a playing program, I never took it seriously. Why would anyone want to play against an engine was my thought.
It surprised me always that one of the best selling products of ChessBase has always been Fritz. When people come and ask me what exactly are the features of it, I was not 100% comfortable. And so I decided to spend a day with my Fritz 17 software. I wanted to check as to what was it that Fritz 17 had in it that ChessBase + Mega Database did not.
You can check out my findings in the video below:
There are some really amazing features which the users would love! I would break them up into ten different points:
Fritz 17 represents one of the most ambitious and progressive versions ever, bringing to you tools that should help all players contend with modern problems. From the challenges of memorizing and studying complex opening theory, to easily reviewing games with a focus on improving your practical skills, to bringing what is bound to be an amazing addition to your arsenal of tools: Fat Fritz.
In fact, Fritz 17 brings not one engine, but four: a brand new Fritz 17 engine, the new custom made neural network Fat Fritz with its penchant towards cutthroat chess, the well-established Leela with its very Karpovian approach to chess in a no-headache installation, and Stockfish itself. Plus a surprise in the near future!
