Game of the Week: Caruana vs Firouzja

1/29/2020 – Closing out our coverage of the Tata Steel Masters 2020, IM Merijn van Delft delves into a game from the winner Fabiano Caruana, who defeated Alireza Firouzja to kick off his superb four-game winning streak in the last third of the tournament. Scarcely any world champion has managed to captivate chess lovers to the extent Carlsen has. The enormously talented Norwegian hasn't been systematically trained within the structures of a major chess-playing nation such as Russia, the Ukraine or China.

Tonight we will have a third and final look at the amazing Tata Steel chess tournament. Caruana started the tournament with only one win and five draws, but his second half of the tournament was absolutely phenomenal: six wins and only one draw. We will study Caruana va Firouzja, which was an exciting King's Indian.
