I have a look at game 1 of the Chessable Master final between Magnus Carlsen and Alireza Firouzja. Against the Grunfeld Fianchetto Variation, Firouzja opted for the solid line ...c6-d5, but after the dynamic continuation 7.Nc3 dxc4 the board was soon on fire in a favourite line of the world number one.
Until move 17 the players followed an earlier game between Carlsen and Mamedyarov, but then Firouzja found an important improvement for Black.
This led to an incredibly complex position (one piece against three pawns), in which both sides had chances. One big mistake was enough to make the difference!
