by Robert Ris
10/27/2025 – In his new Fast & Furious show, Robert Ris looks into 3...d6 in the Italian Game palyed in Niemann vs Caruana.| Fast & Furious is available on-demand with a ChessBase Premium Account. You can register a Premium account here.

This video course offers you a complete, clear repertoire for Black against the moves 1.Nf3 and 1.c4. The recommended variations are easy to learn and not difficult to remember, but also pose White serious challenges.

Robert Ris: "I have a look at one of the key games from the US Championships, as with the black pieces Fabiano Caruana took down Hans Niemann in only 28 moves. Against Hans' favorite Italian Opening, Fabiano surprised Hans with the move 3...d6 which is much less common than the main moves 3...Bc5 and 3...Nf6. The ensuing positions lead to very doubled-edged play as Black soon revealed its intentions by launching a pawn storm on the kingside and leave the king in the centre. White failed to come up with a good antidote and was blown off the board in a very impressive way."

This video course provides a comprehensive and practical White repertoire in the Ruy Lopez! Through instructive model games and in-depth theoretical explanations, you will learn how to confidently handle both main lines and sidelines.
