Wesley So used the sharpest endgame weapon there is, zugzwang, to beat Kacper Drozdowski in a bishop vs knight endgame.

Dubov shows how it’s done

A bishop’s pawn on the seventh rank can sometimes draw against a queen. But friendly pawns can do more harm than good and might end up preventing this defensive resource. Daniil Dubov had the queen against Srinath Narayanan’s pair of pawns, and showed how to convert the material advantage into a full point.

Deac outplays Bacrot

In a battle of generations, veteran Etienne Bacrot failed to find the correct way to simplify into a rook endgame. Bogdan-Daniel Deac made the most of his opponent’s mistake and went on to win the game.
