Euro Club Cup: Leading teams stay perfect in Rhodes

10/20/2025 – The European Club Cup continued in Rhodes with the favourites showing no signs of slowing down. After two rounds, all leading teams in both the open and women's sections remain unbeaten, setting the stage for decisive clashes in the coming days. US Championships: Caruana and So grab crucial wins, share the lead

10/20/2025 – Round seven of the US Chess Championships unfolded like a day of redemption and resolve. Fabiano Caruana struck back with a fierce kingside attack to defeat Hans Niemann, a day after missing a winning blow, while Wesley So calmly ended Andy Woodward's hot streak to stay level with Caruana atop the standings. 10/20/2025 – The opening round of the European Club Cup in Rhodes went largely as expected, with all top teams in both the open and women’s sections winning their matches comfortably. The day’s most notable result came in the women’s event, where 10-year-old Bodhana Sivanandan of Lionesses #1 defeated Mariya Muzychuk of Turkish Airlines in a sharp Sicilian. 10/19/2025 – Drama and missed chances marked round six of the US Chess Championships in Saint Louis. Fabiano Caruana came within a move of seizing the sole lead but overlooked a checkmate in nine against Wesley So, leaving the standings unchanged at the top. Fifteen-year-old Andy Woodward provided the day's lone victory, outplaying Dariusz Swiercz. European Club Cup: Gukesh, Giri and Keymer among star participants

10/19/2025 – The 2025 European Club Cup and European Women's Club Cup begin this weekend in Rhodes, Greece, bringing together no fewer than 122 teams and around 800 players from across the continent. The seven-round event features many of Europe's strongest clubs and a number of world-class players, including Arjun Erigaisi, Anish Giri, Gukesh Dommaraju, Aleksandra Goryachkina and Zhu Jiner. Both tournaments run from 19 to 25 October at the Rodos Palace Hotel.

10/18/2025 – The fifth round of the US Championships in Saint Louis brought decisive results and a reshuffling of the standings in both sections. In the open, Hans Niemann ended Abhimanyu Mishra's remarkable 71-game unbeaten streak to join Wesley So and Fabiano Caruana in the lead, while in the women's championship, Carissa Yip defeated former sole leader Anna Sargsyan, allowing Alice Lee to join the lead. Nakamura scores 5½/6 at Maritime Open in Canada

10/18/2025 – Hikaru Nakamura continued his bid to qualify for the 2026 FIDE Candidates Tournament by winning the Maritime Open Chess Championship in Summerside, Prince Edward Island. Playing against much lower-rated opposition, the world number two scored 5½/6 to take first place outright. US Championships Round 4: Anna Sargsyan one point ahead

10/16/2025 – Hans Niemann was the sole winner in Round 4 of the Open section at this year’s U.S. Championships. Playing Black, he defeated Sam Shankland to move into a tie for second place with defending champion Fabiano Caruana and Levon Aronian, half a point behind leader Wesley So, who drew his game against Abhimanyu Mishra. In the Women’s Championship, by contrast, five players scored victories. With second-placed Alice Lee drawing against defending champion Carissa Yip, leader Anna Sargsyan extended her lead to a full point thanks to her win over Megan Paragua.
