Turkey wins FIDE World Youth U-16 Chess Olympiad 2022

10/12/2022 – On 10 October the FIDE World Youth U-16 Chess Olympiad 2022 finished in Nakhchivan, Azerbaijan. The 9-round Swiss tournament with classical time control brought together 34 teams from 22 countries. U.S. Championships: Caruana widens the gap

10/12/2022 – Fabiano Caruana defeated Elshan Moradiabadi to increase his lead at the U.S. Championship in Saint Louis. Caruana now stands a full point ahead of Sam Sevian, Awonder Liang and Ray Robson — the latter joined the chasing pack after beating Hans Niemann with the black pieces. World Open Circuit

10/11/2022 – The Association of Chess Professionals has an interesting proposal: most chess player, they say, only take part in open tournaments, which are completely disconnected from the World Championship cycle. GM Dlugy on Carlsen-Niemann

10/11/2022 – While the World Champion made his position on Hans Niemann quite clear, a later Tweet openly suggested that GM Dlugy had had a role in it as Hans Niemann's 'mentor'. Shortly thereafter, Chess.com shared emails with Dlugy with the press. GM Dlugy has now released a very long and detailed statement regarding multiple aspects, including the accusations as well as his role and impressions of Hans Niemann.

New: The Closed Sicilian

Novy Bor and ASVOe Pamhagen are the European Club Cup champions

10/10/2022 – A 3½-2½ victory over Asnieres allowed Novy Bor to end the European Club Cup (open section) with a perfect 14/14 score. The team led by Pentala Harikrishna thus won the tournament in style. Clichy and Viernheim scored wins in the final round to get second and third place respectively.
