10/11/2022 – The Association of Chess Professionals has an interesting proposal: most chess player, they say, only take part in open tournaments, which are completely disconnected from the World Championship cycle. That creates "two parallel realities." For this reason, the ACF proposes making opens a part of the World Championship cycle. Here is their proposal, presented in full detail. 10/11/2022 – While the World Champion made his position on Hans Niemann quite clear, a later Tweet openly suggested that GM Dlugy had had a role in it as Hans Niemann's 'mentor'. Shortly thereafter, Chess.com shared emails with Dlugy with the press. GM Dlugy has now released a very long and detailed statement regarding multiple aspects, including the accusations as well as his role and impressions of Hans Niemann.

If so, then the main lines of the Open Sicilian are for you. But if you are one of the 99% of chess players who do NOT fall into this category, and open 1 e4, then the Closed Sicilian is a worthwhile option. 10/10/2022 – A 3½-2½ victory over Asnieres allowed Novy Bor to end the European Club Cup (open section) with a perfect 14/14 score. The team led by Pentala Harikrishna thus won the tournament in style. Clichy and Viernheim scored wins in the final round to get second and third place respectively. Very recently, the Armenian IM played quite superb tournaments at the Olympiad, and the European Women's Championship. We wanted to ask a professional chess player, how they prepare for a tournament, so you at home can get some ideas, tricks, and inspiration for your next tournament. We start off with one of the keys for a good prep - building an opening repertoire. Perhaps not as ChessBase intended it, but it seems to work wonderfully for Lilit!
