Women's World Championship: Game 2 also ends in a draw

7/6/2023 – In the second game of the Women's World Championship match in China, the reigning World Champion Ju Wenjun had White, but couldn't get anything against the Tarrasch Variation of her challenger Lei Tingjie, who even managed to gain a slight initiative after the opening. FIDE Women's World Championship Match 2023 commences in Shanghai

The match for the Women's World Championship will start on 3 July

6/29/2023 – On 3 July (first game on 4 July), the Women's World Championship match between defending champion Ju Wenjun and challenger Lei Tingjie will begin in Shanghai. The first half of the match will be played in Shanghai and the second half in Chongqing. The prize money is USD 500,000.

Sharjah Masters: Eight co-leaders, Aryan upsets Arjun

5/21/2023 – Four rounds into the strong Sharjah Masters, eight players are sharing the lead with 3 points each. Among them are Ju Wenjun and Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu, the only two players who kicked off the tournament with back-to-back wins. Sharjah Masters: Ju stuns Vidit, shares lead with Pragg

5/19/2023 – Women’s world champion Ju Wenjun scored a second consecutive upset win to go into round 3 of the Sharjah Masters sharing the lead with Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu (pictured). Ju got the better of third seed Vidit Gujrathi with the black pieces, while Pragg defeated Raunak Sadhwani with white. Sharjah Masters: Ju kicks off with upset victory

5/18/2023 – With 78 grandmasters, the Sharjah Masters kicked off on Wednesday. Most favourites scored victories, but there were a few upsets: seventh seed Ray Robson was defeated by Denis Kadric, while women’s world champion Ju Wenju got the better of Murali Karthikeyan. Ju’s win was not without ups and downs, as she first got a clear advantage, then found herself up against the ropes, and finally managed to make the most of a miscalculation by her opponent. | Photos: Official website

China to host Women’s Candidates Final and Women’s World Championship Match

3/3/2023 – Shanghai and Chongqing will host the two major Women’s events of the year. More than three years after her last defence of the title in Shanghai and Vladivostok, women’s world champion Ju Wenjun will face the winner of the Candidates’ final match between Lei Tingjie and Tan Zhongyi.

FTX Road to Miami: Sevian leads, Ju shines

7/12/2022 – Sam Sevian grabbed the sole lead on day 2 of the FTX Road to Miami online tournament. The US grandmaster collected a perfect 12/12 score on Monday, with one of his four wins obtained by default as Teimour Radjabov withdrew from the competition after round 5. Day 2 also saw Ju Wenjun collecting three wins to climb to the top half of the standings. Yu Yangyi repeats as Chinese champion

5/15/2021 – Despite losing his last-round encounter against women’s world champion Ju Wenjun, Yu Yangyi won the open section of the Chinese Championship for a second time in less than six months. The fourth highest-rated player in the country collected 7 points in 11 rounds and edged Wei Yi and Li Di on tiebreaks. Tan Zhongyi had already secured first place in the women’s section with a round to spare.

FIDE announces Online Women's Speed Chess Championship
