11/6/2024 – In the 6th round of the Women's Grand Prix Tournament in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, Aleksandra Goryachkino won her fourth game in a row. She played against German Grandmaster Elisabeth Paehtz, who missed study-like drawing chances in a difficult endgame. Stavroula Tsolakidou, Tan Zhongyi and Kateryna Lagno also won their games. 10/30/2024 – The Kazakh city of Shymkent is the venue for the second Women's Grand Prix Tournament of the current Grand Prix series 2024-25. FIDE has changed the format of this series and involved more female players. The top two players in the series qualify for the next Women's Candidates Tournament.
