U.S. Championships: Games and standings

10/20/2022 – The U.S. Chess Championships took place on October 5-19 at the Saint Louis Chess Club. Both the open and the women’s tournaments are 14-player round robins. Fabiano Caruana and Jennifer Yu clinched the 2022 titles. | Replay all the games from both sections.

U.S. Championships 2022

The U.S. Championship is a 14-player round-robin featuring the strongest players in the United States. Players compete for $262,000 in prize money and title of U.S. Champion. If two or more players tie for first place a playoff will be held.

The U.S. Women’s Championship is a 14-player round-robin featuring the strongest women players in the United States. Players compete for $160,500 in prize money and title of U.S. Champion. If two or more players tie for first place a playoff will be held.

Players receive 90 minutes for the first 40 moves followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game, with a 30-second increment from move one.

  • Rest day: October 10
  • Rounds 6-10: October 11-15
  • Rest day: October 16
  • Rounds 11-13: October 17-19
