Wilhelm Steinitz (4)

If we go back to the Romantic period for a moment, we can say that Steinitz's new scientific approach helped him to become the first official world champion in chess history, when he won the first official world championship match in 1886 against Johannes Herman Zukertort.

Steinitz successfully defended his title on a number of occasions, and his main rival at that time was the Russian Mikhail Chigorin.

However, when Steinitz lost his title to Emanuel Lasker in 1894 and an attempt to regain the title in their revenge match in 1896/1897 failed, things quickly went wrong for Steinitz. A severe nervous breakdown in 1900 proved fatal.

Nevertheless, during the Four Masters Tournament in St. Petersburg he won a nice game against Lasker.

The diagram shows a position from this game, in which Steinitz had White. Lasker was in trouble and had just tried to muddy the waters with 13...f4?

However, how did the old World Champion now surprise the new World Champion? Give a few lines to support your choice.
