New Year's events

Today we're going to have a look at Hastings and a quick update on the Women's World Championships plus a Tata Steel Chess preview.

Some brilliant individual performances including the winner GM Panchanathan and our very own Ginger GM Simon Williams.

GOTD will be Panchanathan's win vs Sengupta in round 8. A brilliant attacking performance by the tournament winner.

Born in 1986, Lawrence Trent is an international master, who has represented England in numerous international youth championships (including a 7th place in the U18 WCh in 2003). The Londoner, who has a degree in Romance languages, already has a lot of experience as a trainer. Trent has recorded several DVDs for ChessBase.
