On this DVD Vladimir Kramnik retraces his career from talented schoolboy to World Champion in 2006. With humour and charm he describes his first successes, what it meant to be part of the Russian Gold Medal team at the Olympiad, and how he undertook the Herculean task of beating his former mentor and teacher Garry Kasparov.
Tata Steel is over but on his way out of the Netherlands, the 14th World Champion announced he'll no longer be an active professional player.
Kramnik told me a few years ago at the London Classic that when he felt he couldn't maintain his true level then he'd call it a day. He gave it one last punt in Wijk but it was clear that the spark had gone. He is a true champion and wish him all the best in his future endeavours
