Robert Ris: "Player of the week is top GM Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, who has a very impressive 6/6 record so far in the Azerbaijan National Championship. In round one he knocked out GM Farid Abbasov, who had opted for the Larsen 1.b3 opening.

A completely new position appeared on the board on move 6 when Black decided to sacrifice a queen for three minor pieces. The position remained fairly balanced for some time, but after a serious mistake White quickly lost control and the game."
