This week I am examining the game between Daniel Fridman and Magnus Carlsen from the Grenke Chess Classic in Karlsruhe.
The game features a Double Fianchetto system. In the spirit of the King’s Indian, Magnus managed to seize the initiative on the kingside and, despite some mistakes along the way, went on to win an instructive game. Some other Magnus games are presented as well to illustrate Black’s chances in this line.
