by Robert Ris
4/21/2023 – In his Fast & Furious show, Robert Ris had an in-depth look at the "incredible" 8th game of the World Championship match. Ding opted for the Saemisch Variation (4.e3 & 5.a3) against the Nimzo-Indian and came well-prepared with the amazing concept of 9.Ra2!?, which only had been seen a few times before. This led to an exciting game, in which Ding, however, missed several chances to win. | Fast & Furious is available on-demand with a ChessBase Premium Account. Nepomniachtchi also seemed to be ready for the variation chosen by Ding, but probably mixed up the lines and made the first huge mistake. Ding had a few clear chances to seal the game, but once again let slip his advantage and with a stunning piece sacrifice Nepomniachtchi was eventually able to hold.
