In this week’s show I have a look at the game between Magnus Carlsen and Richard Rapport from round 6 of the Grenke Chess Classic, which featured a popular line of the Ben-Oni.
Black’s temporary knight sacrifice on e4 is well-known, and Magnus admitted afterwards that he had even checked it before the game. He quickly returned the gift and made a pawn sacrifice himself! As it turned out, White’s position is much easier to play and so Black surrendered on move 32.
