Play Sardinia World Chess Festival 2024 in Italy's strongest tournament ever with a €50100 prize fund

2/22/2024 – Unichess and Emmedi Sport ASD invite you to Sardinia World Chess Festival 2024. The inaugural edition of this festival is offering a total prize fund of €50100. The top three prizes are €10000, €6000 and €4000 each. There are three categories - Open A (>1999), Open B (<2000) and Open C (<1600). There are 15 main prizes in Open A and ten each in Open B and C. That's not all. Total 78 prizes are up for grabs. Entry is FREE for players rated above 2450. For everyone else, entry fee is €100 by 31st March €130 till 15th April after organizing committee agrees. Eleven players have 2600, 19 players above 2500, 17 GMs and 9 IMs have already confirmed participation from 15 countries across the world. Eligibility, Categories and Time Control

There will three categories: Open A is for players rated above 1999, Open B will be for players rated below 2000 and Open C category will have players rated below 1600. The time control for each category is 90 minutes for 40 moves + 30 minutes + 30 seconds increment from move no.1.

There are single rounds each day from Saturday 27th April to Saturday 4th May. There is only one double round on Tuesday 30th April 2024. Check out the image below for a complete schedule of the tournament and accommodation details.

Prizes

The total prize fund is €50100. The top three prizes in Open A are €10000, €6000 and €4000. For Open B (<2000) it is €1500, €1000 and €700, Open C (<1600) has €1200, €800 and €600. There are 15 main prizes in Open A, while B and C category has ten prizes each. That's not all. There are five prizes for Women in each category A and B, category C has four. Top three prizes will be given in the seven different rating categories: 2300-2399, 2201-2299, 2100-2200, 1900-1999, 1800-1999, 1700-1799 and 1600-1699. There are also four prizes each in Juniors section Under-18 and Veterans over 65. There are 78 prizes in total.
