Mogul Chessboxing Championship in Los Angeles

12/9/2022 – On 11 December, IM Lawrence Trent, chess player, author and commentator, will play the most combative chess match of his career at the Galen Center (10,200 seats) in Los Angeles. He will face Canadian GM Aman Hambleton in the main match of the Mogul Chess Boxing Championship. Organiser of the event is the well-known Youtube streamer Ludwig Ahgren.

The Galen Center on the campus of the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles will host a major chessboxing event, the Mogul Chessboxing Championship, on 11 December. It is the largest chessboxing event of its kind to date.

Organiser is Ludwig Ahgren, who as "Ludwig" is a successful Youtube streamer with over 3.78 million subscribers.

The event on 11 December starts at 4pm local time (= 1am CET on 12 December) and is made up of several chessboxing competitions, with streamers and Youtubers facing each other.

GM Aman is the Canadian grandmaster Aman Hambleton. IM Trent is the well-known chess commentator Lawrence Trent. The English International Master lives in Berlin and is trained by the Chess Boxing Club Berlin.

Commentator of the match it none other than World Champion Magnus Carlsen.

Organiser of the Mogul Chessboxing Championship is the streamer and "Content Creator" "Ludwig", aka Ludwig Ahlgren. 

 

 

Ahgren (born 6 July 1995) is an American livestreamer, YouTuber, podcaster, esports commentator and competitor. 

Ahgren is best known for his live streams on Twitch (2018 until the end of 2021) and Youtube (from the end of 2021 with an exclusive contract), where he presented and presents game shows. He is also active as an Esports commentator. With his shows, Ahlgren is one of the most successful streamers on Youtube with over 3.78 million subscribers. At the Streamer Awards 2022, Ahgren won the award for "Streamer of the Year".

Galen Center

The Galen Center is a multi-purpose hall on the campus of the University of Southern California (USC). It was opened in 2006. The basketball and volleyball teams of the university teams USC Trojans play their games in the hall. The hall is named after Louis Galen, a banker, and his wife Helene, who, as Trojan fans, donated a total of USD 50 million for its construction. The hall has an area of 23,700 square metres and seats 10,258 spectators. One third of the seats are sold as season tickets. Ticket holders pay between USD 2,500 and USD 10,000 per season.
