Ten rounds in six days
The second edition of Legends & Prodigies will take place in Madrid from 7 to 12 September, with Faustino Oro returning to the tournament where he scored one of his strongest results to date. The Argentine teenager will face five strong grandmasters in a six-player double round-robin at Nave Bellver.
Glorious sacrifices, unexpected tactics and checkmating attacks. The King's Gambit is one of the oldest and most romantic openings in the game of chess. These DVDs contain all you need to know to play the King's Gambit.
Oro won the inaugural edition in 2025 with 7½/9 points, finishing 1½ points ahead of the chasing group. During the event, he crossed the 2500 Elo mark and earned his first grandmaster norm. Since then, he has completed the three norms required for the GM title, although he will still officially appear as an IM in Madrid.
His opponents this year will be David Antón, José Martínez, Ivan Sokolov, Diego Flores and José "Pepe" Cuenca. Antón is one of Spain's leading players, while Martínez has established himself among the strongest representatives of Latin American chess. Flores is an eight-time Argentine champion, and the experienced Sokolov has had a long career at elite level. Cuenca, meanwhile, combines tournament play with his well-known work as a chess commentator.

The six players will face each other twice for a total of ten rounds. A single round will be played on Monday 7 September, followed by double-round days from 8 to 11 September. The final round is scheduled for Saturday 12 September.
The time control will be 60 minutes plus a 30-second increment from move one. The event has received FIDE approval for the games to count towards the standard rating list. FIDE has been allowing selected tournaments to test shorter standard time controls under conditions established by its Qualification Commission.
The compressed schedule means that eight of the ten rounds will be played on double-round days, giving the participants little time between games for preparation and recovery.

The organisers will also bring back the confessional used during the first edition. Players may leave the board during a game and enter a separate room to explain their thoughts on the position to the audience - their rivals will not have access to those comments during play.
The tournament will again be staged at Nave Bellver. There will be no general public access to the playing hall during the rounds, although two public activities involving tournament participants are planned during the week.
