Game of the Week #688

Sometimes it is hard to keep track of all the new rising superstars!

At the spectacular Grand Swiss, it is 14-year-old Yagiz Kaan Erdogmus from Turkey who is stealing the show so far. After drawing Gukesh Dommaraju and Vincent Keymer early in the event, he played Aditya Mittal with black in the fourth round. It turned into quite a memorable game, full of unusual tactics and an iconic finish, which makes it our Game of the Week.

Erdogmus proves that chess is more alive than ever before.

Warm-up question: What would you play here with Black?

This week's show

In this opening Black opts for active piece play and is not afraid to fight for the initiative from an early stage. One of the many good features of this opening is that Black is often the side which controls the pace of the game.
