Game of the Week #666

Last week we looked at a game of the new men's European champion: Matthias Bluebaum. This week we take a look at the European Women's Championship and a game by Teodora Injac, who leads the tournament with 8.0/9 after 9 of 11 rounds and has a good chance of becoming European Women's Champion 2025.

Our game of the week is her round 8 win against Bella Khotenashvili. It was a very tight game with a lot at stake. It could have gone either way, but once Black took the initiative, she never let go.

Warm-up question: What would you play here with Black?

This week's show

In this opening Black opts for active piece play and is not afraid to fight for the initiative from an early stage. One of the many good features of this opening is that Black is often the side which controls the pace of the game.
