Game of the Week #659

The world's top players are playing Online-Blitz in the Champions Chess Tour this week. We also considered the Stockfish vs. Leela games from the last TCEC, but the vast majority of the games were drawn.

But there are always grandmasters active somewhere, and we have found an instructive game from the Djerba Masters as our Game of the Week. Daniel Dardha played a tricky opening variation against Parham Maghsoodloo, and when the latter started freestyling (in the original sense of the word) things quickly got out of hand.

Warm-up question: What would you play here with White?

The flexible Open Spanish

In this opening Black opts for active piece play and is not afraid to fight for the initiative from an early stage. One of the many good features of this opening is that Black is often the side which controls the pace of the game.
