Game of the Week #562

While top level chess, especially correspondence chess and world championship matches, may give us the impression that chess is very drawish, reality is very different in most cases.

In the German Bundesliga many players also have a safety first approach, but if both players are willing to take risks, the result can be anything.

Jorden van Foreest and Parham Maghsoodloo are two giants with an adventurous approach and delivered a great fight in the most recent Bundesliga weekend.

Warm-up question: What would you play here with White?

The flexible Open Spanish

In this opening Black opts for active piece play and is not afraid to fight for the initiative from an early stage. One of the many good features of this opening is that Black is often the side which controls the pace of the game.
