Game of the Week #537

The 37th European Club Cup in Mayrhofen was a lovely event in the Austrian mountains, with a great chess atmosphere in a healthy environment. From start to finish he Novy Bor Chess club was leading the field. Vidit started with 6 out of 6 and only lost in the last round.

But our Game of the Week is the crucial Indian encounter Harikrishna-Anand, which comes with some rivalry as I understood. While Anand no longer has anything to prove, this game still must have hurt, as Harikrishna created a technical masterpiece.

Warm-up question: What would you play here with White?

The flexible Open Spanish

In this opening Black opts for active piece play and is not afraid to fight for the initiative from an early stage. One of the many good features of this opening is that Black is often the side which controls the pace of the game.
