6/25/2026 – The French league is usually a good source of exciting games and this week we are studying the highly entertaining and very complex game between Dutch number two Jorden van Foreest and the best French player of all time: Maxime Vachier-Lagrave. The World's former number two is known for this love of the highly theoretical and dynamic Grunfeld, but here he got seriously tested in the very sharp 5.h4 variation. Game of the Week #727

Like last week we have selected a game from the French league and this time around it is a very instructive game between Anton Korobov and Parham Maghsoodloo. In a very tricky version of the Anti-Sicilian it seemed like Black mixed up the move order or rather forgot to include a crucial move. White had a large advantage ever since, but he had to take many sharp decisions to keep control over the game, which makes it a highly instructive performance by Korobov.
