Endgame Magic #286

The diagram shows what might well be the best-known endgame position in history. The position occurred in the 14th and last game of the World Championship match Ding Liren vs Gukesh D. A draw would have led to a 7-7 tie and a tiebreak. However, in this position Ding blundered and lost the game and the match. What did he play and why was that a mistake?

Bg2 or even Bc6/Bh1 should draw.
A change of both officers results in a loss. If only the rooks change, I don't see any chance of victory for Gukesh.
