Winning starts with what you know
The new version 18 offers completely new possibilities for chess training and analysis: playing style analysis, search for strategic themes, access to 6 billion Lichess games, player preparation by matching Lichess games, download Chess.com games with built-in API, built-in cloud engine and much more.
The first question that needs answering is on saving the games. While the procedure of creating a database in Fritz or ChessBase is certainly easy enough, both require a desktop computer. What if you went to an open, maybe a weekend rapid event, and won't have access to a laptop or other? I could suggest entering the games later, but unless they were recorded on a scoresheet, that could be a dubious proposal to say the least.
The answer is to use a smartphone or tablet, and save the games one at a time, using a chess application that saves PGN files. Needless to say, ChessBase for Android or iPhone is ideally suited for this, since you can also annotate it, but really any app should do. If you have no scoresheet, try to save them shortly after the round while they are fresh in your memory.
ChessBase for Android offers all the tools you need to analyze and save games, ready
for storage on the Cloud Database
It goes without saying that using ChessBase 13 is by far the easiest way, so let's start with that. However, even if you don't have it, you can still save the games on the cloud with no restrictions, just be warned that to save them elsewhere from the cloud to a pendrive or hard disk will require a copy of the program.
First you'll need to create a Cloud Database where you plan to store your
games. In ChessBase 13, click on Cloud Databases.
Although there is already a database called My Games, you can create a new one for your use.
Here I will click on New and create a fresh database called "Albert's Games".
After going to the Cloud Databases, return to the main database area: My Databases
In ChessBase 13, drag and drop the PGN file to the Cloud Database or...
...open the base with your games, then choose the ones you want to copy, and drag and
drop them to the Cloud Database in question.
That's all there is to it. After that you can access your Cloud Database at any time from any computer with ChessBase 13 installed, entering with your Playchess account, or via the MyGames browser app.
