Among the participants are three Women’s Grandmasters (WGM): Kateryna Dolzhykova, Priyanka Nutakki from India, and Lena Georgescu from Switzerland.

When inviting players, Tournament Director Sebastian Siebrecht always takes care that the field of participants is as international as possible.

With participants from 30 countries, this year’s event again boasts impressive international representation. Four chess enthusiasts traveled from Singapore, soon to be in the global chess spotlight as it hosts the World Championship match between Ding Liren and Gukesh. Sixteen-year-old Lee Kwan Ho competes under the Hong Kong flag. Kazakhstan is also represented by three participants, including Grandmaster Rinat Jumabayev.

Siebrecht also wants to support young players and promising international and national talents regularly find their way to Tegernsee. Sixteen-year-old Marius Deuer recently impressed at the Weissenhaus Young Masters and in the starting field of the International Bavarian Championship he is the highest-rated U18 player, narrowly ahead of Leonardo Costa, who also performed well at the Weissenhaus Young Masters.

Another promising talent is 14-year-old Lukas Dotzer from Austria, with an Elo rating of 2441, number 17 on the starting list. Not to forget 19-year-old Elham Amar from Norway, who already is a Grandmaster.
