What do chess professionals do in their spare time? Chess!

Switzerland is certainly one of the most beautiful countries in Europe with a charming landscape, high mountains and picturesque lakes. The players of the invitational tournaments at the Biel Chess Festival are traditionally invited to an excursion on the rest day, either on the water or in the mountains.

This time they travelled by boat to the other end of Lake Biel, to La Neuveville.

Of course, players can never stop thinking about chess, not even on a trip like this. Saleh Salem and Haik Martirosyan played a game of blindfold chess on the excursion - one that ended with a beautiful combination!

Arne Kähler captured the events with his camera.
