After 94 moves of fighting chess, the fifth game of the match between Dinara Wagner and Elisabeth Paehtz ended in a draw, with Wagner missing a great opportunity to score a win.
The opening phase favoured Paehtz, as she reached a comfortable position with the black pieces, which meant that Wagner had to invest a lot of time early on. But then Paehtz made a big mistake and Wagner gained a material advantage. Shortly before move 40, Wagner had a clear advantage, but after the time control was reached it was no longer so easy, as Paehtz put up a great defensive effort.

In the penultimate round of the A-Open, Anton Korobov faced sole leader Vadim Petrovskyi on the top board. Korobov took the initiative early on out of an Italian Opening and, after a long struggle, managed to realise his material advantage.
Things went faster on the second board, where Frederik Svane took Richard Stalmach by surprise with a king attack in the middlegame and won a remarkable attacking game.

The third player sharing the lead going into the final round is Nico Zwirs. The Dutch International Master defeated German super-talent Christian Glöckler.
The co-leaders have collected 6½ points each, and stand a half point ahead of a ***-player chasing pack. The fight for the tournament victory is completely open before the final round.
The decisive round will be played on Sunday, starting at 10.30 am. GM Artur Yusupov will be on site to commentate the games. The award ceremony will take place at 5 pm, and is also open to spectators.
