In a surprising turn, Aravindh Chithambaram emerged victorious after defeating Parham Maghsoodloo and then besting elite players Arjun Erigaisi and Levon Aronian in tiebreaks. FIDE Book Awards 2024 – Call for nominations

11/10/2024 – The FIDE Trainers' Commission (TRG) is now accepting nominations for the prestigious Yuri Averbakh / Isaac Boleslavsky Book Awards 2024. Open to chess books published in 2023, authors and publishers may submit up to three titles, with nominations closing on 21 November 2024. Judged by a panel of three prominent chess experts, the awards will recognise instructional excellence in chess literature, with the winner and two runners-up announced in mid-December.

Pragg's devastating loss - The Underdog

11/7/2024 – In the European Club Championship, lower rated players occasionally faced GM superstars, such as Erigaisi, Gukesh, Abdusattarov, Praggnanandhaa or others. And in the very first round, Pragg had to deal with IM Francois Godart from Belgium, rated 2377. In a Sicilian Rossolimo, Godart had a pawn less, but strong counterplay.
