Lucas van Foreest wins Pardubice Open

9/29/2020 – The Dutch Grandmaster Lucas van Foreest won the Czech Open in Pardubice. After defeating his countryman Liam Vrolijk in the final round van Foreest finished with 7½/9 and was half a point ahead of the the young Polish International Master Jarmula Lukasz (born in 1998) and the even younger International Master Robby Kevlishivili from the Netherlands (born in 2001), who both scored 7.0/9.

Altibox Norway Chess 2020: Live and over-the-board!

9/29/2020 – From October 5 to October 16, Stavanger will again host the the Altibox Norway Chess Tournament. It is a double-round-robin with six players, who play live(!) against each other. Top seeds are Magnus Carlsen and Fabiano Caruana, Levon Aronian, Jan-Krzysztof Duda, Alireza Firouzja and Aryan Tari complete the field.

Spanish Team Championship, Round 6: Andreu Paterna leapfrogs Magic Extremadura

9/29/2020 – Andreu Paterna leapfrogged Magic Extremadura to reach sole second place with one round to go at the Spanish Team Championship taking place in Linares. Meanwhile, Silla Bosch Serinsys drew rating favourites Beniaján Duochess to remain in the lead before Tuesday’s final round. 9/28/2020 – At the Candidates Tournament 1962 in Curacao, Pal Benko (pictured) and Viktor Kortschnoi reached a very complicated minor piece endgame. Karsten Müller asked the readers to help analysing this endgame which Benko won. 9/28/2020 – The Covid-19 situation has presented the world with a tough time. The chess world is also affected heavily with over-the-board tournaments dwindling in number. But one thing that has received a tremendous boost is the level of chess education that has been made available in the last few months. Alexander Donchenko: The importance of working hard at the board

9/27/2020 – Alexander Donchenko won the ACP-ChessBase Knockout Tournament, which took place in the Emanuel Lasker Arena of the PlayChess server a couple of months ago. Favourites are the teams Duochess Beniajan, Silla Bosch Serinsys and Andreu Paterna.
