6/1/2022 – Wesley So and Vishy Anand grabbed an early lead at the Norway Chess super-tournament in Stavanger. So beat Teimour Radjabov, while Anand got the better of Maxime Vachier-Lagrave. Magnus Carlsen, Anish Giri and Shakhriyar Mamedyarov drew their classical encounters and went on to win the Armageddon. 6/1/2022 – At the beginning of the month, FIDE published the new world ranking list. Since there have been more FIDE-rated tournaments recently there has been some movement on the list but Magnus Carlsen, Hou Yifan, Alireza Firouzja and Zhou Jiner are still the best players in the various categories.

6/1/2022 – Grandmasters Maxime Lagarde (pictured) and Laurent Fressinet won the Internationaux de France blitz and rapid championships that were played over the weekend at Port-Marly near Paris. Frederick Svane scored a GM norm — 24 hours later Svane's third and last GM norm in the Bundesliga was also official. 5/31/2022 – This year's Norway Chess Tournament in Stavanger started on Monday evening with a blitz tournament. After five rounds Magnus Carlsen led the field but then lost against Wesley So - after trying 1.a4 - and Vishy Anand.
