7/16/2025 – The ninth edition of the Abierto Sesc Caiobá turned the Brazilian city of Caiobá into a prime destination for chess enthusiasts. With over 200 participants and a diverse program, the event combined classical tournaments, rapid and blitz competitions, training sessions, and community activities—all set against the backdrop of a stunning seaside location. While the Masters section saw all three games conclude in draws, maintaining the standings from the rapid phase, the Challengers section delivered three decisive results. Women's World Cup: Song stuns A. Muzychuk

7/15/2025 – The third round of the Women's World Cup concluded with six matches decided in tiebreaks, completing the round-of-16 lineup. While most favourites advanced, 19-year-old Song Yuxin upset Anna Muzychuk to join fellow rising stars Meruert Kamalidenova and Umida Omonova in the next stage. Women's World Cup, Round 3: Chinese favourites prevail

7/14/2025 – 107 players started in the Women's World Cup, but only 32 of them made it to round three. With the exception of Aleksandra Goryachkina, the top favorites remain in the field. The top Chinese players Lei Tingjie, Zhu Jiner, and Tan Zhongyi all advanced comfortably to the fourth round without needing a tiebreak. Biel: Start of the Grand Master Triathlon – favourites take the lead

7/14/2025 – The Grandmaster Triathlon began on Sunday in Biel with the discipline of rapid chess. After five games of rapid chess the two favourites, Vladimir Fedoseev and Aravindh Chithambaram (pictured), lead in the Masters. Wojtaszek, the 2020 Biel winner, is lurking just behind them. Theodorou took the lead in the Challengers, remaining undefeated, as did his closest rival Hakobyan. GM Benjamin Bok won the open rapid one-day-tournament.
