10/28/2022 – In the last several weeks, the world of chess has been rocked by the accusations and allegations of cheating with the help of a computer. The idea is not new of course, but it might shock you to know the very first case of surreptitiously using a computer in a game against a grandmaster dates all the way back to 1980. 10/28/2022 – The world champion Svitlana is talking about today, is one of the world's best chess players, since the late 80s. The five-time world chess champion has played some gorgeous games, and we will take a look at two of them. Anand beat Aronian with the Black pieces in 2013, and it is one of Svitlana's favourite games used for teaching. The second game is from 1997 against Joel Lautier, and Anand managed to trap the opponent's bishop for the whole game, without ever having the need to capture it.

Besides Nodirbek Abdusattorov, who secured his spot in semis on the second day of action, Magnus Carlsen, Hikaru Nakamura and Ian Nepomniachtchi moved on to the knockout stage by finishing among the top two in each group. 10/24/2022 – 188 years ago, from June to October 1834, Louis-Charles Mahé de La Bourdonnais of France and Alexander McDonnell of Ireland played a series of five matches to determine who was the world's best player of their time. La Bourdonnais won with an overall score of 45 wins, 27 losses and 13 draws. Today, this series of matches is considered to be the first inofficial World Championship match. It helped enormously to popularize chess and led to a number of remarkable games.
