7/7/2023 – The finish of the 6th game of the World Championship match between Ding Liren and Ian Nepomniachtchi was impressive. In a tense and complicated position, Ding surprisingly advanced his d-pawn, and this small pawn advance was crucial to a spectacular mate that could have occurred in the game. The audience was impressed, the study composers were inspired. 7/7/2023 – Ian Nepomniachtchi, Fabiano Caruana and Vishy Anand are sharing the lead at the SuperUnited Rapid & Blitz tournament after two days of play. Anand finished day 1 as the sole leader, and saw Nepo and Caruana catching up with him thanks to outstanding performances in rounds 4-6. 7/5/2023 – In the recent 2023 World Championship Match, Ding Liren won Game 12 against Ian Nepomniachtchi using the Colle System to tie the score at six. The match remained tied after fourteen games, and Ding went on to beat Nepomniachti in the rapid tie-breaks to become the 17th World Champion. With the Colle System utilized in the World Championship Match, it is a fitting moment to remember the life and career Edgard Colle.

7/5/2023 – The 36th edition of the “Magistral Ciudad de León” will take place on July 6-10. Once again, a 4-player knockout will be the main attraction in the city located in the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula. Boris Gelfand will attempt to defend his title against Francisco Vallejo, Nikita Vitiugov and local star Jaime Santos. Gelfand defeated Vishy Anand in the final of last year’s edition.
