This week they had an article on the domination of a new generation of young Asian superstars in chess. The favourites at the Chess Olympiad in Budapest, according to DW, are China, India and Uzbekistan. Only the US have a chance to compete with them.

But who would have guessed that he could play so brilliantly against one of the best players in the world with the Black pieces? Fabiano Caruana is still considered one of the best prepared players ever, and just like Magnus Carlsen, can rarely be beaten, when leading the White pieces. Robert Ris presents an unusual Underdog, which can rise back to his "overdog" status, end of 2021!

9/9/2024 – With a crushing 23½-7½ victory over Alireza Firouzja, Magnus Carlsen became the winner of the 2024 Speed Chess Championship. This is Carlsen's fourth SCC title, as only he and Hikaru Nakamura have ever won the tournament organised by chess.com. 9/9/2024 – To celebrate its 100th anniversary, the SK Troisdorf in Germany came up with a very special tournament: a diving chess championship. 22 participants played five rounds Swiss under water. 9/9/2024 – Legendary players and rising stars will come together to compete in Budapest at the 45th Chess Olympiad. Hosted by the BOK Sports and Conference Centre, the Olympiad will offer an array of satellite events. The Judit Polgar Chess Foundation will take you on a special adventure to its Chess Palace, the International Chess Federation will present its 100-year history in an exhibition, and amateur players will be able to participate in competitions, a chess quiz and more, organized by the Hungarian Chess Federation.

9/8/2024 – The Women's Chess Olympiad will set a participation record this year with 184 teams registered. Teams like Liechtenstein, Guernsey and Grenada will make their debut. According to the average rating of their rosters, the top teams are India (2467), Georgia (2462), Poland (2422), China (2416), and Ukraine (2400).

9/8/2024 – The final match of the Speed Chess Championship is taking place on 8 September at Espot in Paris. Magnus Carlsen faces Alireza Firouzja in a 180-minute match featuring 3 sections of blitz and bullet chess.
