Dejan Bojkov, born in 1977, is a Bulgarian GM who qualified from the Sports Academy of Sofia as a trainer, a profession which he has followed in various countries. After his work as a trainer in Kavala (Greece) he trained ex World Champion Antoaneta Stefanova. Bojkov regularly reports for chessbase.com and chessbase.de. In 2009 Bojkov was champion of Bulgaria and member of the Bulgarian team at the European championships. Bojkov is the author of a number of popular ChessBase DVDs and in cooperation with Vladimir Georgiev wrote the book "A Course in Chess Tactics" (Gambit 2010).
11/21/2018 – No, the title does not refer to the absolute World Championship in London, but rather a battle of possible future challengers ages 8-12 which took place in Spain from November 4th to 15th. 8/9/2018 – At the Panamerican Youth Championships at the end of July in Santiago de Chile, everything was fine besides the temperatures. The spacious playing all hall of the National Sports Stadium had too few heaters. Heaters you say? But we have record high global temperatures. 7/25/2016 – Miguel Najdorf was a successful businessman, a colorful personality, a man with a passion for chess and one of the best chess players of his time. He was born in Poland but when the Second World War broke out during the Chess Olympiad 1939 in Buenos Aires he decided to stay in Argentine. But Poland still honors him with a memorial that year after year attracts strong players. This year Grzegorz Gajewski won.
7/1/2016 – This year the Chess Federation of Colombia was host to the Panamerican Junior Championships and they invited the players to Guatepe, a small picturesque village not far from Medellin. The tournament schedule was tough but Guatepe with its cheerfully painted houses and its breathtaking landscape still left a deep impression. Dejan Boikov reports.
3/4/2016 – The Campeonato Continental Femenino, the American Continental Women's Championship, took place from 19th to 29th February and was played in Lima, the capital of Peru. After some tense moments rating favorite and Peruvian celebrity Deysi Cori won with 7.5/9. Dejan Bojkov, who worked as a coach at the tournament, sends a pictorial report and shares impressions of Lima.
7/24/2015 – Coach Dejan Bojkov and his student Ashritha Eswaran had a hectic schedule in June and July. First Ashritha played the US Championship for Girls U20 and then they flew to Colombia to play in the Pan Americanships Girls U18. After that the Pan American Championships G20 followed in El Salvador. But there still was time to visit the past.
7/10/2015 – The Pan American Championships took place in Cali, Colombia. It was a tournament with a tough schedule - nine rounds in six days - that was not made any easier by heat and humidity. But for GM Dejan Bojkov and his long-time students Ashritha and Aksithi Eswaran and Chenyi Zhao it was a success. They won three medals and won one of the three won gold with 9.0/9.
