European Chess Union president Boris Kutin writes: "As you remember that
we had already informed federations for European
Individual Chess Championships. European Chess Union is glad to invite
you to Antalya Kemer-Beldibi from 14 to 31 May 2004 for 5th European Individual
Chess Championship. The tournament will be played in the Nautilus Hotel Beldibi
Kemer. As you remember we announced the official regulations in our website
www.eurochess.org . Now we clarified the hotel and venue. Please check information
and send the necessary application files to Organisers as soon as possible.
In the hotel the number of rooms are limited to organisation. Organisers have
made reservation for 100 beds in 30 single and 35 double rooms. this rooms
will be given according to application time. And if there is more request than
100 beds, the second hotel building which is 250 metres behind will be in use.
Till today organisers have got 55 applications. Therefore, we ask all federations
they want to send players to make their application as soon as possible."

girl (guess who!). The prize sum is $192,000, in the women's section

Problems

reports and pictures we have been publishing from the 4th European Individual
Championships in Istanbul, Turkey, have been quite idyllic. But there
is trouble a-brewing. 187 participants have signed a letter of protest
to the President of the European Chess Union and threatened to boycott
the next event. Nigel Short puts it into

a message from the President of Turkish Chess Federation Ali Nihat Yazici:
