First let us quickly go through the results after nine rounds. In the men's section Zurab Azmaiparashvili is in the sole lead with seven points, followed by Konstantin Sakaev, Aleksej Aleksandrov, Alexander Grischuk and Kiril Georgiev half a point behind.
In the women's section Alisa Galliamova is in the lead, with 6.5 a full point ahead of her nearest rivals Almira Skripchenko, Antoaneta Stefanova, Olga Zimina Olga and Viktorija Cmilyte, each with 5.5
Now we come to the section we promised, and which you all have been waiting for: portraits from the women's section of the European Championship. Remember we did a corresponding report on the men's section yesterday, so nobody can accuse us of any kind of bias or discrimination.
So here they are, the beautiful, smart ladies playing in the European Individual Championships is under way in Silivri, Turkey. While studying these pictures remember all of these players could probably give you a sound whipping in a game of chess. You may also want to take notes.
