Game of the Week #646

The World Championship will start in a few days time, but for now we celebrate the new European Champion: Aleksandar Indjic played a fantastic tournament and was the sole winner with seven wins and only four draws.

Our game of the week is his very inspired seventh round win with Black against Vladimir Fedoseev. The opening, middlegame and final direct attack on White's king were all played with confidence and creativity.

Warm-up question: What would you play here with Black?

The flexible Open Spanish

In this opening Black opts for active piece play and is not afraid to fight for the initiative from an early stage. One of the many good features of this opening is that Black is often the side which controls the pace of the game.
